Yohji Yamamoto has garnered a reputation since the early seventies as one of the most respected avant-garde designers in fashion. His spectacle and sunglasses frames are amongst the most distinctive ever produced, alongside those by Jean-Paul Gaultier. They often incorporate references to Victorian machinery and instrumentation, as well as architectural details. Not as overtly "steam punk" as many of Gaultier's designs and without their jokey irony, Yohji's incorporate references to the past in a subtle and delicate manner, reflecting his Japanese origins. The frames are made by the reputable Japanese firm Murai, and are as solid as can be. This particular pair, it should be noted, are a matte silver, not a shiny chrome finish, and you should remember that they are quite rectangular, so should consider them if that shape suits your face. If not, there are a lot of other shapes to choose from! Choosing any Yohji frame guarantees quality and a different, but subtle and classic look. Recommended without reservation.
